A verb phrase contains one or more auxiliary or helpingverbs followed by a main verb.

In some verb phrases, the auxiliary is a form of have. Hasand have are the present tense forms of have. Had is the pasttense form of have. The auxiliary have is followed by the pastparticiple of a verb.
