     The worst Day {of my life} is Note #1 When I had a birthday 

(DO) and My Sister seemed to be the birthday girl (PN). I 

know Note #2 this isn't very bad (PA) but I can't think {of 

anything} that was worst (PA) now I will finish my story (DO).

So me and my friend Went upstairs and put together my 

present (DO) that I got {from dad} My dad and mom helped 

me (IO) put together my present. After everybody went home I

was mad (PA) Note #3 {at my sister} but I got {over it} 

     My house is brick (PA) {at the bottom} and yellow (PA) {at 

the top} We live {at 1302 Wxxxxxx Ave.} My house has two 

floors (DO). We have a hill (DO) {around my house.} We have 

two living rooms (DO), three bedrooms (DO), two bathrooms 

(DO), and a kitchen (DO). We have eight rooms (DO) {in our 

house} We have two t.v (DO) {in my house.} I like my house 

(DO) very much.
 

Notes

1. Don't expect students at this level to be able to identify the complement of "day is." If they ask, tell them that the complement is the rest of the sentence, and that it consists of clauses, which they will study later (Level Three).

2. Some students will want to make "this" the direct object of "I know." Point out that, within this sentence, the answer to the question "I know what?" is not "this," but rather "this isn't very bad." Then note that "this isn't very bad" is a clause, and that they will study clauses later.

3. I can still remember by eighth grade teacher screaming that "mad" means "crazy," and that this should be "angry." Such prescriptivism, which runs counter to general usage, is part of what gives grammar a bad name.
