Gerbils

They are brown and white.  They live in cages. There cage

is made of glass with a wire cover. Up to as many as three

gerbils may live in one cage. The gerbils live in Mrs. Stewart's

classroom.  I like to observe them. Mrs. Stewart buys their

food and feeds them.  And water provides water for them.

Wood chips cover the bottom of their cage. Gerbils like to

stand on their hind legs. The tail is the longest part of their

body. They are cure and fuzzy. Fur covers their body. They

dig holes in the corner of the cage to sleep. They eat seeds.

Gerbils move around on hind legs. Gerbils are small. They

have small black oval eyes. They move fast. Gerbils bite.

Gerbils make good pets. My science teacher has them in her

classroom. They live in aquariums also.  If you have a cat it

wouldn't be a good idea to have gerbils because gerbils are

like mice and cats like mice. I would get some gerbils but we

have two cats. I like gerbils and think they are cute. You should

clean their cage out once every week or two. Cleaning out

their cage can be a lot of work. They eat paper. After you

finish whatever you're doing with them be sure to put the lid

on the cage because they will get out. The temperature of their

cage stays about 20dC. The room temperature is higher then

the cage temperature
