Aluminum is an abundant metal that has many uses. Aluminum comes from bauxite, an ore that has some clay-like features. Workmen grind the bauxite then place it into pressurized tanks. They then use filters to seperate the two substances which remain. They take the liquid that remains and put it through several other processes which finally yields a white powdery chemical. The chemical that forms, alumina, is a mixture of aluminum and oxygen. Workmen use electricity to seperate the aluminum from the oxygen. The product that forms is a light-weight, shiney, silver-colored metal which is called aluminum.
