Aluminum is an abundant metal that has many uses. It comes from bauxite, which is an ore. Bauxite looks like clay and contains aluminum and several other substances. Workmen extract these other substances from the bauxite, grind the bauxite, and put it into pressurized tanks. The other substances form a mass, which is removed by the workers. The workmen use filters and a liquid remains. They put it through several other processes, until it finally yields a chemical. The chemical, alumina, is white and powdery. Alumina is a mixture of aluminum and oxygen. Workmen seperate the aluminum from the oxygen by using electricity. They finally produce a light metal. The metal has a luster that is bright and silvery and comes in many forms.
