Aluminum is an abundant and
versitile metal that comes from bauxite. Bauxite is an ore that resembles
clay and contains aluminum and several other substances. Workmen extract
these other substances and grind the bauxite before putting them into pressure
tanks. The leftover substances form a mass that gets removed through filters
until a liquid remains. After several other processes a powdery, white
chemical is left. This chemical is known as alumina, this is a mix of aluminum
and oxygen. By using electricity, workmen seperate the aluminum from the
oxygen. Finally, a light metal is yielded that has a silvery luster. This
metal comes in many forms. |
