Aluminum is an abundant metal which has many uses. I comes from a ore which looks like clay called bauxite. Bauxite contains aluminum along with several other substances. Workmen extract these other substances from bauxite. Bauxite is ground and put in pressure tanks. The other substance forms a mass which is then removed using filters and all that remains is a liquid. After being put through other processes Bauxite yields a white, powdery chemnical called alumina a mixture containing aluminum and oxygen. Using electricity aluminum is seperated which is a light, silvery metal that can come in many forms.
