Aluminum is an abundant metal with many uses. It is contained in an ore called bauxite, which looks like clay. Bauxite also contain several other substances which are extracted by workmen. The workmen grind the bauxite and place it into pressured tanks. The other substances form a mass, which is removed through filters. A liquid remains and is put through several other processes. Finally it yields a white, powdery chemical called alumina. This is a mixture that contains aluminum and oxygen. The two are separated using electricity to produce a metal. The metal is light, with a bright, silvery luster, and comes in many forms.
