Aluminum is a metal that has many uses. Aluminum comes from bauxite, bauxite looks like clay and contains aluminum. Workmen extract the substances from the bauxite by grinding it and then putting it in pressurized tanks. The chemicals are separated in the tanks and the non useable chemicals are thrown away. The chemical they use is called alumina it is white and powdery. The mixture alumina contains aluminum and oxygen. Workmen then use electricity to separate the aluminum from the oxygen. The final product is a bright, shiny metal.
