Aluminum is an abundant metal which has many uses. It comes from an ore called bauxite. Bauxite is a clay like substance which contains aluminum and other substances. Scientists extract these other substances from the bauxite. They then grind the bauxite and put it in pressurized tanks. They then use filters to remove the mass of the other substances. The scientists proceed to put the remaining liquid through several other processes, and finally a chemical is yielded. The chemical that is produced is a powdery, white mixture called alumina. Alumina contains aluminum and oxygen which scientists seperate using electricity. They finally produce a light metal with a bright, silvery luster. Aluminum can then be used in many forms.
