| Although the Penn Collge English Department does an excellent job with placement tests which determine whether a student will go directly into Freshman Composition, or will first have to pass a remedial course, at the beginning of every semester of the course instructors give an in-class writing assignment to verify the placement results. The news recently included a story about two women who were reprimanded by their supervisor, a male, because he said that their skirts were too short. The women work for the city planning commission, and the supervisor said that their dress was too distracting. (Their skirts were about three inches above their knees.) The women said that, if there is a problem, it is the men's. The two women are suing their supervisor for sexual harassment.
