I Feel Proud When I Help Someone

     \-\There was this old lady [RAJFthat lived {across the street} {from me.}] \-\I thought [RNDOshe must be very lonely] [RAVFbecause her husband had passed away] and [RAVFshe was living all alone.] \-\[LAVFWhen I came home#NuA01 {from school}] I would see her {on hands and knees} digging#ADO11 weeds {out of her garden.} \-\Then she would load up a heavy wheelbarrow and haul=CV the weeds {into a pile.} \-\I used to think {to myself,} [RNDO"I wonder [RNDOif she could use some help?"]] \-\But I would always dismiss the thought and go=CV play.*INFAV01
     \-\One day#NuA02 [LAJFwhen I got {off the school bus}] I saw her walking#ADO10 {down her steep driveway} to get*INFAV04 the newspaper. \-\{Without even realizing*GerOP03 it} I picked up the paper and ran=CV over to give*INFAV05 it {to her.} \-\[LAVFWhen I handed her the paper] I felt kinda funny, [RAVFuntil I saw [RNDOhow grateful she was.]] \-\She was so thankful [RAVFthat she said [RNDO[LAVFif I did this every#NuA02 day] that she would give me something {in return.}]] \-\So [LAVFas the days went on] I continued to get*INFDO04 her paper and occasionally help*INFDO07 her {in her garden.} \-\I did get a treat. \-\She gave me fresh baked chocolate chip cookies.
     \-\The day came [RAJFwhen we were spending a lot {of time} together.] \-\We weeded the garden, burned=CV brush, and washed=CV windows. \-\This is [RNPNhow my neighbor, Mrs. Higbee#App02 and I became close friends.] \-\[LAVFEven though Mrs. Higbee has moved {to a rest home} now] it still gives me a warm feeling to think*INFDS03 back and realize*INFDS26 [RNDOthat just {be going*GerOP12} a little bit#NuA03 {out of my way} to help*INFAV04 my neighbor, that it brought us to be*INFDO06 very close friends.]
