The Local Diving Board
Directions: Fix the spelling, punctuation, and other grammatical errors in the following.
One summer afternoon my friends and I were going to the swimming pool.
On the way there my friends talked about diving off the local diving board. I had
never done it because I was scared.
When we got to the pool we swam in the pool for a little while.
Later, we got out to take a little break. I had a feeling they would ask if I wanted to
dive off the diving board. And they did. I said I would stay and watch them but, they told
me it was a lot of fund and I should try it. Since I didn't want them to think I was a frady
cat, I decided to give it a try. It didn't look too high.
I got in line and waited my turn.
When it was finally my turn I nervously climbed up the steps to the board. "It seems
a lot higher up There than it did down there!" I thought to myself. I was getting more and
more nervous. I slowly walked to the end of the board. My knees were knocking and I
had goosebumps on my arms. I slowly counted to three "1 ... 2 ... 3." I put my hands
together and dove. As I came up out of the water. I had a proud smile on my face. I did
it for the rest of the day and had lots of fun.
I am very glad and proud I tried something new.
