Multiple Ways of Combining Sentences
Exercise # 4
Write your answers on separate paper.

The Original Sentences:

Animal rights activists have been around for a long time. They have a recorded history beginning in ancient Greece.

1. Combine the two sentences using a colon, semicolon, or dash. Briefly explain why you used the punctuation mark that you chose. [You may, if you wish, write only those parts of the sentence that would be changed.]

Use a subordinate conjunction to combine the two sentences to establish the indicated logical connection and focus.

2 [Focus on "have been around"; logical connection = identity: make the other clause an adjective]

3 [Focus on "have a recorded history"; logical connection = identity: make the other clause an adjective]
