1. In Writing about Literature, study the Critical Concepts for Short Stories and the Typical Conflicts. [These should be on pages 21-30.]

2. Read "A Worn Path" (and the study questions)

Study questions:
1. When you characterize someone, you make a list of adjectives (helpful, smart, jealous, stingy) and nouns (leader, politician, woman) that describe them. List four adjectives and/or nouns that characterize Phoenix Jackson. After each, briefly describe two or three events or words from the story that support your choice.
2. List two conflicts in "A Worn Path."
