Aluminum is an abundant metal with many different uses. Aluminum is one of many substances contained in a clay like ore called bauxite. Workmen extract these substances, grind the bauxite, and put it in pressure filled tanks. The other substances form a mass which is removed using filters. After this process of removal, a liquid remains. The liquid is put through several processes until it yields a white, powdery chemical called alumina. Alumina is a mixture containing aluminum and oxygen. To finally produce the metal, the workmen seperate the aluminum from the oxygen using electricity. This new light metal comes in many forms, and has a bright silvery luster.
