Aluminum is a metal that is abundant and has many uses. Bauxite is an ore that looks like clay. It contains aluminum and many other substances. Workmen extract these other substances by grinding the bauxite and putting it in pressurized tanks. A mass will then be formed. Workmen will remove the mass and filter it until only a liquid remains. After several processes a chemical is finally yielded. The chemical is a white powdery substance called alumina. Alumina is a mixture that contains aluminum and oxygen. By using electricity these workmen seperate the mixture resulting in a new metal. This metal, which comes in many forms, is very light and has a bright silvery luster.
