Aluminum is a very useful
(3) and abundant (2) metal
(1). It is extracted (4) from a claylike
(6) substance called bauxite. Workmen extract
(10) aluminum and several (8) other substances
(9) from bauxite by grinding (11) it
and placing (12) it into pressurized
(13) tanks. This produces a liquid (17)
containg the aluminum. After several other processes
(18) a white (21), powdery (20) chemical
(19) containing alumina (22) remains.
Alumina is a mixture (23) containing
aluminum (24) and oxygen (25). Workmen
use
electricity (27) to seperate (26) the
two elements. The light (29) aluminum remaining
has a bright (31) sivery (32) luster (30) that
comes in many forms (33)
