Aluminum is an abundant metal that has many uses. Aluminum comes from a claylike substance called bauxite. Bauxite is an ore that contains aluminum among with several other substances. Workmen extract these other substances from the bauxite by grinding it, and the adding it to pressurized tanks. The left over substances form a mass. When the mass is removed it is filtered and a liquid will remain. After this, it is put through several other processes. The bauxite finally yeilds a white, powdery chemical called alumina. This is a mixture that contains aluminum and oxygen. Next the workmen seperate the aluminum from the oxygen by electricity to form a metal. They finally produce a light metal with a silvery bright luster. This metal also comes in many forms other than this.
