Aluminum is an abundant metal that has many everyday uses. Aluminum Comes from an ore called bauxite. Bauxite looks a lot like clay and it contains other substances as well as aluminum. To get the aluminum, workmen grind the bauxite. It is then put into pressurized tanks where certain substances form a mass. The mass is removed. The remaining liquid is put through a few other processes that result in a powdery white chemical called alumina. Alumina contains oxygen and aluminum. To separate the aluminum from the oxygen electricity is used. A bright lustery silver metal is produced. This common metal comes in many forms and can be used in many different ways.
