Aluminum is an abundant metal, that has many uses. It comes from a clay like ore called bauxite, which contains aluminum and several other substances. Workmen extract these other substances by grinding the bauxite and placing it in pressurized tanks. The other substances form a mass, which is then removed. They then use filters leaving behind a liquid, that is put through many other processes, finally yielding a chemical. The chemical is a white, powdery substance called alumina. It is a mixture of aluminum and oxygen. With electricity workmen seperate the aluminum and the oxygen finally producing a metal. The metal produced is light and has a bright, silvery luster. Today aluminum comes in many forms, one such form is a soda can.
