Level 1: Prepositional Phrases

Current technology makes it extremely difficult to draw lines, etc. from word to word in web documents. In Level One, I have therefore indicated words modified by prepositional phrases in following brackets. These brackets will be deleted in the answer keys to subsequent levels.

     I live {at 432 Xxxxxxxx Street.} [Adverb to "live"]  I live {in 

a green and white house} [Adverb to "live"]   I have four 

bedrooms.  My moms bedroom is the biggest, we have seven 

closets {in our house} [Adverb to "have"] so I play hid and 

seek {in them} [Adverb to "play"] my back yard is big so my 

brother built a club house.  We have a shower {in our bath 

room,} [Adverb to "have"] my sister is always {in the shower} 

[Adverb to "is"] when I want to get {in it.} [Adverb to "get"] My 

mom has a dressing room {in her bedroom.} [Adverb to "has"] 

I have lots {of toys} [Adjective to "lots"] {in my room} [Adverb

to "have"] and lots {of Janit Jackson posters and the Jets.}

she has is makeup.  I have a bathroom and a dining room and

a living room and a kitchen.  My room is purple and and a 

rainbow {acrose it.} [Adverb to "has"-- here written as the second 

"and", or adjective to "rainbow"]  My brothers room is junky.  This 

morning I woke up and got dressed and then my aunt told me 

to make her a cup {of coffe} [Adjective to "cup"] and I spilled it 

and I fell {in dirt} [Adverb to "fell"] and tangeled my hair  has 

your morning ever started {like this.} [Adverb to "started"]

     This morning I woke and I couldnt find nothing to wear 

and I fell {down the steps} [Adverb to "fell"] but that was not

the worst thing  I couldn't eat my cearl and mile because my 

throght was sore  Oh and also I am going to go {to the new 

mall} [Adverb to "to go"] this week to get new clothes do you go 

{to the new mall.} [Adverb to "go"]   My mother is very 

beatyful. I have a brother and sister.  My dad is tall  my mom 

is short. My brother looks {like my dad.} [Adverb to "looks"] 

Note #1 When my mom is {in a good mood} [Adverb to "is"] she 

takes us shopping. Every time my dad is {in a good mood} 

[Adverb to "is"] he gives us money.  My sister looks {like my 

mother} [Adverb to "looks"] and so do I.  My sister is {in Xxxxxx

Xxxxxx Middle School. } [Adverb to "is"]

     My dad is 30.  My mom is 29.  My moms birthday is 

November the 23.  My mom is a nurse  my dad workes {on

cars.} [Adverb to "works"]  my sister is 12, she does my hair. 

my brother is 10.  he fixes bikes. My sisters name is Dxxxxxl 

and my brothers mane is Dxxxxx.  I was born {in Xxxxxxxxx 

Xxxxxxxx.}  [Adverb to "was born"]
 

Notes

1. At level two, some students will prefer to view "looks like" as the verb ("resembles"), but when they are working at level one, most students will mark "like my dad" as a prepositional phrase.
