Practice Exercises on Syntax
Some students, perhaps because of their
previous experience with grammar, pick up the KISS Approach very quickly.
Others have had problems and have sought additional instructional material.
Unfortunately, the various instructional material on grammar can be very
confusing, especially since different grammarians define grammatical terms
differently. (See Essay # 4 in the Essays
on Grammar.) Students who want extra help should therefore use the
following exercises, based on jokes about children in church (courtesy
of Dr. David Evans, of our Biology Department).
